It is a pet-friendly festival, but your pets must be friendly, and they must be kept on a leash. This is to ensure that everyone has a pleasant time during Do Dah Day. Of course, make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day with you and your pet friend. There will be alcohol found inside the festival grounds and you cannot bring your own to the festival. There is also a parade that happens every year to celebrate Do Dah Day! It starts at 11:01am sharp, at the Parade Start location on Highland Ave & 33rd Street. There are several prizes awarded for the participants of the parade, and those include: Best Float, Best Team, Largest Pet, Best Dressed Pet, and so very much more!

As Birmingham's oldest running event, it is interesting to note just how modest this festival was during it's infancy. It started out small... Nearly tiny... And has blossomed into an event that draws over 40,000 people every year. You'll find the attendees hail from all walks of life, and make the journey from all throughout the country, and even the world, to visit this amazing event!

A few more bits of important information if you plan on actually participating in the aforementioned parade... Be sure to get there early! The registration begins a couple of hours prior to the parade itself. The parade sequence has always been on a first come-first served basis. The parade route follows west on Highland and then marches on past Rushton Park and Rhodes Park respectively. Once the procession has reached Caldwell Park, you will know that you are done!

If you happen to have some youngins... You will be delighted to know that this event is indeed, very child friendly. There's always an assortment of various activities for your kid and their friends to enjoy. They will be able to relish in having their face painted, or can even engage in various arts and crafts. For the children who may be more into sports, there have been basketball games in the years past. If none of these pique the interest of your children, there is always a stellar selection of musicians for them to listen to. Chances are good that you will enjoy whatever they choose to do.
