Boston Tea Party Re-enactment • Boston MA

Held every December 16th, you can expect a great event to participate in! It's the Boston Tea Party Re-enactment! This family friendly event celebrates the single most important event leading up to the American Revolution. You will find that the Old South Meeting House and the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum are the hosts for this re-enactment. Give yourself a chance to learn and participate in some history that helped shape the country into what it is now, and bring the children along for the fun!

Being a free event means that the entire family can enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of participating in one of our country's pivotal moments in history. This fantastical reprisal of the events that happened almost 250 years ago has become a beloved Boston tradition and spans the entire city. The story is told every December 16th in three distinct acts.

Act 1: The Body of the People

If you are looking forward to interacting with historic figures such as Paul Revere, John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and the Sons of Liberty, then this is the part of the event you won't want to miss. Here you will meet up with other event goers at the historic Old South Meeting House to participate in an enthusiastic debate about taxes on the colonies.

Act 2: Huzzah for Griffin's Wharf!

Look out! It's time to march from the Old South Meeting House towards the Harborwalk where Griffin's Wharf once proudly stood. But beware, along the way and near the Post Office Square, you might encounter a Redcoat Regiment who isn't too pleased with events, nor the cold. You will be led through this act with multiple fife and drum corps, so you can't miss it!

Act 3: Boston Harbor, a Tea Pot Tonight!

Be like the brave citizens of Boston were over 240 years ago, and take part in the finale of the Boston Tea Party Re-enactment. At this dramatic conclusion, you will shout "Huzzah!" as you witness the Sons of Liberty storm aboard the ships and destroy containers upon containers of East India Trading Company Tea. This will be one of the most important events leading up to the creation of today's United States of America. Huzzah!
