Acton is a small rural town located southeast of Indianapolis, and was founded in 1852 as Farmersville. However, after finding out that there was another Farmersville in Posey County of Indiana, the name was officially changed to it's present day Acton. Acton has always been considered a rural area, however it is expanding, especially with the recent construction of a new housing subdivision in the west side in 2004.
