Altamonte Springs was first settled by Dr. Washington Kilmer of Cincinnati around 1870 and named the area Altamont. The present day name of Altamonte Springs was given twelve years later by the Altamonte Land, Hotel, and Navigation Company.

Altamonte Springs currently holds Central Florida's largest Independance Day Celebration, and hosts a number of other fantastic annual events that make this city a worth while place to live and to visit!
